Taken at about 1 o’clock in the afternoon. The sun does not reach very high in the sky.

We went to see a Rodin exhibition at Konstakademien. The kids were reluctant, “do we really have to”, but as Ingrid said, “it was more fun than it sounded”. The exhibition was small enough so they didn’t run out of energy, and well presented. The info text for each item had interesting facts that even a kid could relate to. And since Rodin’s oeuvre contains many variations on the same themes, where he reworked an idea again and again and reused the same sculptures in different works, in different sizes and materials, even the kids could make sense of the bigger picture as well.

Now that the bunk bed is no longer needed, we disassembled it and carried it down to the basement. Then realized that if we want to sell or give away the bed, it would be helpful to have a few photos of it. So we drove the car out to make some space, reassembled the bed, photographed it and then took it apart yet again.

Adrian joined us, dressed in pyjamas as usual, so he could use the cordless screwdriver that Eric got for Christmas.

  • Took daily photos for most of the year, only taking a break just after Christmas when photography felt like yet another chore rather than something I really wanted to do. Also, attended a nature photo morning.
  • Planted another part of the garden.
  • Had the roof replaced.
  • Picked up geocaching.
  • Started working out. For several years I used to spend a good chunk of each afternoon walking and cycling back and forth across Spånga to pick up the kids. Now Ingrid walks home on her own, and I no longer walk to her Estonian lessons either because those have moved closer to her. And I realized I am not getting enough exercise any more. Hence, twice-weekly sessions at Friskis & Svettis.

Memorable events:

My mum and brother are here to celebrate New Year’s Eve. After a day with six people cooped up indoors, we’re going crazy. I’m not sure who’s more easily bored and in need of entertainment: the kids or my mum. (My brother is more reclusive and has no trouble entertaining himself.)

In any case, we bundled into our warm clothes and took all of the bored people out walking in Ursvik, and introduced my mum to geocaching. We found two lovely, fun caches – and also two huts like the one in the photo. Built by some scout group perhaps?
