We go out almost as soon as the lifts open at nine and ski until late afternoon. After an hour’s break around four o’clock, the kids want to ski some more. Most lifts close at half past four, but some ski runs are lit and stay open until six. Those include a nice little stub of a run right next to our cottage. It is literally a minute away. (For future reference: we stayed in one of the cottages at Sjungarbacken.)

This late in the evening there are hardly any skiers here and no queues whatsoever to the platter lift. Up and down, up and down, with no downtime in between. It’s an easy “blue” run, suitable for the whole family – and it has a little snow park! The kids love the snow parks here at Kläppen and could probably spend half of every day going over the humps, over and over again.

Adrian got a spring haircut. Eric got a regular haircut.

I’ve forgotten what song he was dancing to when I took the photos. But YMCA is one of his absolute favourites.

A lava bottle experiment from a library book. Water with food colouring at the bottom, cooking oil on top of it, and then an effervescent tablet to make it bubble and erupt.

Back from the library with a pile of the books.

It’s parent/teacher conference day at school. Adrian is very seriously presenting his recent work to us.

Adrian, tired and possibly coming down with a cold, curled up under a blanket. On top of another blanket that’s peeking out from underneath the cushions.

We have so many comfy blankets in this house that I’ve lost count. When I go gathering them up at the end of the day, I often find more blankets on the sofas than there are kids – often they need one in each sofa.

The absolutely most beloved ones are these incomparably soft fleece blankets. Adrian got one as a gift and sleeps with it every day. Ingrid loved Adrian’s so much that she also got one that she now sleeps with every day. And then Adrian needed another that he can wrap himself in when he comes downstairs early on weekend mornings, half naked in the chilly house.

This sunflower seed loaf that Eric makes is the entire family’s favourite bread. When there is a fresh batch, straight from the oven, we all attack it like starving wolves as soon as it’s cool enough to eat.

Adrian, like me, wants his clothes to be soft and comfortable. Looks also matter but comfort comes first.

Clothes are best when they have been washed many, many times, so they are really soft and floppy. He would rather wear old comfy socks, where the sole is nearly transparent in places, than new ones. He has two favourite long sleeve t-shirts which are not just one but two sizes too small for him, many years old, the sleeves ending a good bit above his wrists. He would wear those two all the time if he could. Only when both are definitely too dirty does he pick some other shirt.
