According to Wikipedia, it was one of 21 finalists for the New Seven Wonders of the World, but was not among the &#8220;winners&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3991_Kiyomizu_dera_1.jpg\" class=\"x45y6\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are multiple small shrines and other buildings and structures in the temple compound, including a tall, striking pagoda.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3991_Kiyomizu_dera_3.jpg\" class=\"x45y6\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I liked the intricate, brilliant fire-orange roof constructions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3991_Kiyomizu_dera_4.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was also interesting to see just how varied the design and architecture could be, even between buildings within the same temple complex.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3991_Kiyomizu_dera_5.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Kiyomizu-dera was popular with Japanese tourists, and there were kimono-clad couples and families taking photos on all the the staircases.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3991_Kiyomizu_dera_6.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kiyomizu-dera, yet another beautiful, ancient temple in Kyoto.
