Reading the packaging, I see it now says &#8220;no artificial colourings&#8221;. I guess it used to contain titanium dioxide for its whitening effect, and since titanium dioxide is no longer considered safe in food, it&#8217;s also being phased out in toothpaste.<\/p>\n<p>When toothpaste has looked blindingly white for forty-plus years, the new, gelly-looking one gives a less clean and appealing impression at first glance. But do I really need and want ground-up rocks in my toothpaste just to make it look whiter?
