Today was mostly travelling, although we had some time in the evening to explore Kamari, the village where we&#8217;re staying, and its black pebble beach, and the long beach promenade.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3050_Santorini_1.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><br \/>\nHoping to not get caught by another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toomik.net\/helen\/blog\/index.php?s=mallorca\">heat wave to make hiking difficult<\/a>, we booked this trip for as early in the season as possible, as soon as school ended. It&#8217;s hot, but not unbearably so.<\/p>\n<p>Coming here in June is also good to avoid the crowds that are sure to be here in peak season in July and August &#8211; now the restaurants are more than half empty, and there is plenty of room both on the beach and in the streets.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_4\/3050_Santorini_3.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re on a week&#8217;s vacation on Santorini.
