{"id":15687,"date":"2022-05-22T21:22:36","date_gmt":"2022-05-22T20:22:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.toomik.net\/helen\/blog\/?p=15687"},"modified":"2023-07-24T22:31:39","modified_gmt":"2023-07-24T21:31:39","slug":"daily_2672_-_the_fade_is_not_so_fade-y","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.toomik.net\/helen\/blog\/2022\/05\/22\/daily_2672_-_the_fade_is_not_so_fade-y\/","title":{"rendered":"Daily: 2672 &#8211; the fade is not so fade-y"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/helen\/blog\/images\/daily_3\/2672_knitting.jpg\" class=\"x6y45\" \/><br \/>\nI try to hold back with the knitting posts because I imagine you all get tired of them, but now I see the last progress photo of the cardigan was six weeks ago, so I can get away with one.<\/p>\n<p>I had planned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.toomik.net\/helen\/blog\/2022\/03\/10\/daily_2600_-_unplanned_yarn_purchase\/\">a colour fade<\/a> which looked good when the yarns were still in hanks, but now that I&#8217;m knitting it, there is less gradual fading than I had hoped and more of a striped effect.<\/p>\n<p>The fade is much softer and, you know, actually fade-y, on the reverse of the fabric. I&#8217;m starting to understand why so many of the knitting patterns that incorporate a colour fade are made in reverse stockinette or garter stitch. But I still like the overall impression of the right side much better &#8211; the colours look more brilliant and the yarn more lustrous.
