Our baby monitor runs on batteries.
The batteries last about a week.
The batteries have to be taken out for recharging, because the base station provides electricity but does not recharge batteries.
And the battery compartment closes with a SCREW.

Truly, sometimes I think some corporations are simply evil. Someone somewhere is rubbing their hands and thinking with glee of all the time that parents will spend screwing and unscrewing that darn thing.

The screw is there because of safety reasons- 90% of baby stuff that is used near babies under age of 3 and has batteries requires screwdriver for changing batteries. It may seem silly in the beginning when baby is small but when she gets older and you see how fast she picks out batteries from all remote controls you will actually appreciate all the screws :-)

Hmm… I have to admit that makes sense. Maybe they’re not evil after all - just more safety-conscious than I am.

How far is your bedroom from hers?

Very close. In fact we only have one bedroom. And in further fact she actually sleeps in our bed most of the time.

We use the baby monitor during naps and in the evening before we go to bed. When she wakes, the faster I get to her the easier it is to get her back to sleep. She’s not the kind of baby who wakes, complains a bit and goes back to sleep. She wakes, whimpers, cries, gets more and more upset, and would ultimately become hysterical if no one comes. But if I get there quickly, I lay her down, pat her a bit, maybe cuddle a moment, and soon she’s asleep again.
